In the presence of eminent chess players and guests from all around the world, this day was marked
with the beginning of the traditional chess spectacle Open Karpos 2015. Around 250 grandmasters,
international and FIDE masters from 25 countries around the world will compete at this spectacular
chess tournament, which is being organized 5th time in a row. The International Chess Tournament was
being organized by the local self-government and the chess club Gambit Asseko CEE, and at the occasion
of the very beginning, the mayor of the municipality of Karpos, Stevcho Jakimovski, addressed to the
The municipality of Karpos welcomes all participants of the tournament. Since we, as organizers,
constantly improve the tournament quality, we will as well continue its affirmation. This is the fifth time
as we meet with some of you, and I am truly glad to see some of the participants from numerous chess
federations for the first time and I sincerely hope to see you again in the years to come. I am also very
glad that not only the chess players from the Republic of Macedonia but as well Europe and the world
are interested in taking part at this tournament – Jakimovski said, and he welcomed the Brazilian guest
who came from Latin America in order to participate at this important tournament.
The President of the Macedonian Chess Federation, Blagoja Bogoevski, also addressed to the present
and thanked the participants for their interest in this intellectual game. He also expressed his gratitude
for the organization of this event to one of the most athletic municipality in the capital of Macedonia.
The competitions have begun tonight and will continue until 3rd April. The chess players will present
their chess skills and knowledge in nine rounds every day from 9.30 am until 5.30 pm. The fans of the

The prize fund of the chess tournament totals 16,000 EUR and 2,500 EUR for the best chess player this
